I can look at them and the app still functions. Once in a while it puts up a modal dialog box and locks you into an ad which you can't get out of except by force quitting TextNow. For this reason I give it only one star. The app is a little kluggy. It needs refinement. For that I should deduct one more star. I mostly used it for texting on my computer. Some times the notification on the phone will not show up. And the worst thing about this app is I keep receiving spam calls which is super annoying and make me worry about security issues. App does not work as a Windows app however you can use the web version. I can use it to send and receive text messages and make outgoing calls and for incoming will display the phone number but not able to play any voice message. Also no notification of any incoming rings but you can get email notification of a message you can not play. so there are a few kinks to be worked out.
TextNow has been working great for me as an easy and free extra number. The only issue is that for some reason the contact don't sync and I have to create a new one when adding people to the app. Otherwise, great app, if you need another number then it's perfect for you.
